OUR BED and BREAKFAST

The Lazy River Bed and Breakfast is located on the banks of the beautiful John Day River in John Day, Oregon.  We offer a clean, casual, comfortable cottage with a view of the river, pasture and hillside beyond.  Our two-room cottage with private deck, sleeping porch and full bath accommodates 4 people comfortably and expands to accommodate families up to six people with a rollaway.   If it is a casual, comfortable, relaxing “get a way from it all” atmosphere you are looking for, we are here to accommodate you.  Our gourmet breakfasts are delivered to your door each morning at a prearranged time for your convenience and are made from the finest, freshest (organic, when available) ingredients.  We serve Café Mam coffee, an organic shade grown coffee to start your day.    We are a non-smoking, children and pet friendly bed and breakfast in a relaxed country atmosphere.

Grab an inner tube (we have some available here) and when the river is high and the weather is hot go for a float down the river from your cottage door or wade into the river,  sit back and relax!  We have just the right spot for you!  Canadian geese, wood ducks, blue heron, bald eagles and many other winged species use our river to satisfy their aquatic needs.  It is not unusual to see deer wading up the river or water fowl and raptors soaring precariously down it’s center.  Hummingbirds and song birds sing along it’s banks and share the feeders and flowers in the garden yard with butterflies and dragonflies!

The town of John Day is only a few miles away and if you would like to bicycle into town we have bikes available for your use.

GRANT COUNTY is Oregon’s natural paradise.  With the snow capped Strawberry Mountain Range, towering at 9,000+feet and it’s expansive wilderness area there are hiking trails geared for novice to experienced hikers and climbers.  A secluded hike is not out of the ordinary.

Take in a rodeo, a horse show, a roping:  perhaps you will be lucky enough to catch the cattle drive that goes through the center of our fair town!  Eastern Oregon is cattle country.   BMW Riders have rated our roads the tops for motor cycling and many bicycle enthusiast are seen on the roads throughout the warm season.  Solwest, the solar energy fair, one of the many local events taking place throughout the summer, attracts over 3000 people with hands on workshops during their 3 day event.  Come to hike, horseback ride, bird-watch, bike, motorcycle, ski, to enjoy the splendor of mother nature, take in an old fashioned county fair, listen to music in the park, swim in our beautiful rivers, streams or lakes, boat, camp, hunt or fish…Grant County is awesome.

With only one traffic light in a county the size of the state of Connecticut, there’s no waiting around.   This is the place to get away from the crowds and enjoy the breath-taking views of Mother Nature’s beauty.
